Eos: Warble Impro (bonus)

about

As with the previous bonus song, this improvisation between me and Argo's producer Harry Williamson, happened spontaneously quite a while after we released Argo, and celebrates some of our more gleeful, impish moments. (After all, the word 'improvisation' contains the word 'imp'!) It riffs on the basic melody and lyrics of Eos Dawn (Eos of the Morning). Both improvisations relate to an earlier song on the album Argo, 'Out of the Equipage', which portrays Eos the Goddess of Dawn embarking from her golden chariot.

lyrics

Once on a time when Morning was a name
A Golden Rose, an’ shimmered like a song
There would the lines of battles lost and won
Whisper ‘Eos of the Morning’!
When legend told of all the ones she loved,
Her great passion was doomed to live
Forever grieving on some Grecian vase,
Eos, still she is calling.
And though my love is changing like a tree
That grows forever from your body
Some say angels never need us;
I pray you’ll remember me.
