Rumi recital - free

by Zeinab Yazdanfar reciting Rumi

/

about

Recited in Farsi by my great friend Zeinab Yazdanfar, these lines by the poet Jalāl ad-Dīn Muḥammad Balkhī (Rumi) are priceless: thus we share this recording for free.

This beautiful recital is also embedded into a song elsewhere on this site, entitled 'The Healer's Names - there is a field' - Louisa John-Krol

lyrics

Rumi's verse in English translation by Coleman Barks:

Out beyond ideas of wrong-doing and right-doing,
there is a field.
I'll meet you there.
When the soul lies down in that grass,
the world is too full to talk about.
Ideas, language, even the phrase
each other
doesn't make any sense.

Jaladluddin Rumi (Sufi Mystic 1207-1273 A.D.)
