about

Never before released, Mark & I wrote this song questioning extroversion; the tacit pressure to 'network' that drives not only socialites but most of society. Even with the pandemic, there is an assumption that one must interact frequently online, rather than delving into a book, garden, etc. Is this restless pitching for attention, connection, affirmation, or validation, really a norm to which we must return at all costs? Perhaps some of us might thrive on quality, rather than quantity, of mingling and conversing?

lyrics

Never really find the season
To settle underneath a tamarillo
Thinkin’ you can lead a legion
But you really are an armadillo

And you can hobnob with ghosts
And you can hobnob with gnomes
But you’ll never know the centre of your soul
And you can hobnob with horns
And you can hobnob with fauns
But you’ll never find the beetle in your bone

Never could be where you wanted
Heaven never shed a skin for you
Waiting by the leapin’ ladder
Leaning on the lower rungs of rue
